October 31, 2012: R & M Consultants, Inc. under contract with HDR Alaska, Inc is currently conducting survey work at the Furrow Creek crossings at Mariner Drive, Clippership Court and Beachcomber Drive. The design process continues!
October 9, 2012: I am not aware of any Oceanview homeowners experiencing property damage from last month’s heavy rainfall and any resulting Furrow Creek overflow or falling trees due to flooding. But, if anyone was impacted locally, they might be interested in listening to the two minute KSKA audio narrative on disaster assistance via the following link http://www.alaskapublic.org/2012/10/05/early-assessment-puts-flood-cost-at-11-9-million/
I personally took over a hundred photos of the neighborhood Furrow Creek culverts and drainage conditions during our heavy rainfall on September 19th and again on October 5th. I delivered them to the Furrow Creek Drainage Improvement Project Administrator for documentation that may be helpful in project design. The project has a website at http://www.furrowcreek.net/. You can view posters, satellite photos and handouts from the recent neighborhood meeting by clicking on the link, then clicking on the “Documents” tab on the menu bar at the top of the page. The website also has a means for you to give further commentary via the “Contact Us” tab.
