September 26th: Furrow Creek Drainage Improvements Neighborhood Meeting

Many of you received a postcard from HDR Alaska, Inc. on September 11th notifying you of the Neighborhood Meeting and Open House at Oceanview Elementary School on Wednesday, September 26th from 6:30 – 8:00pm  regarding Furrow Creek Drainage Improvements.  Postcards were sent to approximately 600 homes located in the area surrounding the planned improvements.  This project is currently in the initial design phase.  The Municipality of Anchorage, Project Management and Engineering Department is in charge of the project.  HDR Alaska, Inc. is the private contractor designing the drainage improvements where Furrow Creek passes under Clippership Court and Mariner Drive.  These are engineers who excel in gathering and crunching data in order achieve the best design and result possible, but they haven’t lived next to the problem for years and haven’t had the opportunity to observe it day after day, or season after season.  They’d like to hear from you!  This is your opportunity to provide input on problems, concerns and possible solutions to local flooding issues directly to the project team.  Bring your stories and pictures related to Furrow Creek flooding issues and share them.  Per the postcard, the project team will also have information on “previous studies, status of existing infrastructure, opportunities to address drainage, and other efforts to fix Furrow Creek flooding issues.”
This is a great opportunity for neighborhood input from homeowners familiar with the issues.  I hope we have good attendance.  I plan to be there and hope to see you! is the project design/construction website.
